Blues artist Anthony “Junior Boy” Jones and his band performed on Friday, March 30, at the Courtyard by Marriott Ballroom. The concert was a fundraiser for the River Reach Foundation which hosts Riverfest, the annual Memorial Day celebration in Farmington.
Junior Boy is a protégé of the legendary Freddie King and has played guitar for Johnny Taylor, Z.Z. Hill and Charlie Musslewhite. River Reach Foundation Board Member and music promoter Bill Diers said, “We had him here last year and we had a lot of people who requested that we bring him back.”
Money raised from Friday night’s concert will help pay for the music at this year’s 26th Annual Riverfest. Diers said the music budget for Riverfest is approximately $15,000. This year’s headliner is Celtic Spring, a Celtic band from California.
The 26th Annual Riverfest celebration is Memorial Day weekend (May 25, 26 and 27) at Berg Park and Animas Park. For more information, visit the River Reach Foundation website at www.riverreachfoundation.com.
